Hockey fans are some of the most passionate fans in sports. The atmosphere, the noise, the loyalty, and a little craziness, hockey fans have it all. Being as unique of a sport as it is, hockey attracts unique fans as well. This includes people from other countries, different classes, everyday people, and of course celebrities as well. Many teams like to boast about their celebrity fans and show them off as much as possible, but some celebrities are more dedicated to their team than others. Here are ten celebrities who are absolutely crazy for their NHL team.
10. Kirsten Bell (Detroit Red Wings)
Bell is an actress who was born and raised in Michigan. She’s earned numerous awards for her work on television shows and movies. She’s also a diehard hockey fan. As mentioned earlier, Bell was raised in Michigan in the town of Huntington Woods, which is about twenty minutes outside of Detroit. She’s been in love with the Red Wings since she was a kid. She was even featured on their ticket stubs after sending in a picture depicting how much she loved the team. She had posters of Chris Osgood and Darren McCarty in her room and even went as far as to call them her gods.
Bell owes her marriage to her favorite hockey team as well. Her relationship with Dax Shepard, who is also a Red Wings fan, started at a Kings game. The Kings just so happened to be playing the Wings that night too.
9. Michael Buble (Vancouver Canucks)
Everyone’s favorite Christmas singer (aside from Miranda Carey). Buble is from British Columbia and has made a fairly good career for himself as a singer with his trademark swing-pop style. In recent years his popularity stems a lot from his Christmas songs, which you can hear played every year in every department store ever. As it turns out however, that’s not even Buble’s favorite winter activity. When he’s not bringing the joy of Christmas to our ears, Buble is watching hockey.
Buble is a big Canucks fan. When the Canucks and Bruins played each other in the Stanley Cup Finals, Buble actually rearranged his show times in order to watch the game. He’s also suited up for practice with Canucks.

8. The Dropkick Murphys (Boston Bruins)
Massachussets’ favorite Celtic band. The Dropkick Murphys are diehard for anything Boston, and Boston is diehard for them. With multiple appearances at Red Sox games, Patriots games, Celtics games, and of course Bruins games, this band has no problem showing their support to Boston sports. First pitches, puck drops, you name it, the Dropkick Murphys have done it. This band bleeds Boston and everything associated with the city. So much so, they even made a theme song for their boys in black and yellow. The song “Time to Go” which was released in 2003 for their Blackout album, was created exclusively to celebrate the Bruins.
7. Justin Bieber (Toronto Maple Leafs)
Bieber was once the biggest pop sensation in the world. His boyish charms, matched with his voice made him a teenaged heart throb around the world. While girls were fawning over him, Bieber was fawning over hockey. Bieber has been a hockey fan for years. He’s played in celebrity games for the NHL, has regularly talked about his love for the sport and has collaborated with the NHL on multiple occasions. He roots for the Maple Leafs with all his heart, having grown up in Ontario himself.
Bieber and the Leafs have a very close relationship, with Bieber even becoming very close friends with star duo Mitch Marner and Austin Matthews. The Leafs’ alternate jerseys were even designed by Bieber and his wife. The Maple Leafs and Bieber may just have one of the best bromances in sports history.
6. Kevin Connolly (New York Islanders)
The Entourage star was born and raised in the state of New York. However, unlike most New York celebrities, Connolly doesn’t cast his allegiance with the Rangers, but with the Islanders instead. Connolly has never been ashamed to be an Isles fan, in fact he wears it as proud as can be. This diehard has even announced a draft pick for this team in 2010. That’s not all he does for this team however. Connolly is not only an actor, but a business owner as well. He owns a sports bar in Los Angeles called Goal Sports Café.
There’s a catch to this bar however. The Islanders are the main event at all times. They get the screens, the merchandise, and anything else Connolly can put up to show his support. He regularly hosts watch parties for the playoffs, and once even hosted the Stanley Cup, though no body was allowed to touch it. The Islanders will never be without love as long as Connolly is around.
5. Ariana Grande (Florida Panthers)
Grande is one of pop’s biggest sensations right now. With seemingly every song she releases becoming a massive hit, the former Victorious star is on top of the world right now. In 2019 she also revealed that she is, and always has been a massive Panthers fan. Born and raised in Boca, Florida, Ariana has cheered on the Cats since she was a little kid, even having rode the zamboni at a game in 1998. She’s gone to almost every home game since she was two years old.
She also made history as the first Panthers’ fan to ever get hit by a hockey puck in the stands. And it happened twice. Once in the wrist and once in the head. Her fandom hasn’t waivered however and you can still expect to see Grande in the stands of FLA Live Arena.
4. Macklemore (Seattle Kraken)
Macklemore loves Washington. Born and raised in Seattle, Macklemore never hesitates to give back to the state he loves, frequently booking concerts and other events in the city. He’s also regularly seen hanging out with fans for pictures and videos and other fun stuff. He’s also a massive Seattle sports fan. He’s constantly seen at Seahawks and Mariners games and is on record for saying how important he thinks sports are for a city. So, when the NHL finally moved to Seattle, Macklemore wasted no time to show his excitement.
He showed it in more than just going to games however. Macklemore has shown his support for the NHL’s newest franchise by buying partial ownership of the team. He’s joining up with Marshawn Lynch to take charge of connecting the franchise with the people of Seattle. During this process, Macklemore confessed that he’s become quite the hockey fan, and we won’t be surprised to see him at quite a few games.
3. Hulk Hogan (Tampa Bay Lightning)
The Hulkster is one of the most popular pro wrestlers of all time. Even years after his retirement his impact on pop culture is still very much felt to this day. His red speedo and bandana combination, as well as his world famous mustache will forever live on in the hearts and minds of wrestling fans. Hogan officially retired in 2012, though he had stopped being a full time wrestler well before that. Hogan is more than just a former wrestler though, he’s also an avid hockey fan, and the Georgia native has casted his allegiance to the Lightning.
Hogan is very frequently seen at Lightning games and is regularly the star of the hour. He’s done puck drops, and has hung out with generations of Tampa players. He frequently poses on social media in his Lightning jerseys as well as shows his support and love for the team through posts. He even posed with Vincent Lecavalier after they won the Cup in 2004. Hogan loves this team with all his heart, and we know the team loves him back.
2. Patrick Warburton (New Jersey Devils)
One of the most iconic voices in media, Warburton became a hockey fan through unconventional means. Warburton played a character named Puddy on the immensely popular show Seinfeld. Puddy would paint his face in an episode in order to support the Devils, and since then Warburton hasn’t been able to escape that moment, with the Devils themselves using that moment to promote the team. Rather than run from it however, Warburton embraced it.
He can now be found donning funny face makeup as well as other bodily paintings at Devils’ games. He never meant for it to happen, but “Puddy” now finds himself loving the sport of hockey and the Devils’ franchise and is willing to do whatever he can to support the team.
1. Will Ferrell (Los Angeles Kings)
Everybody loves Will Ferrell, but who does Ferrell love? Well, Ferrell loves the Los Angeles Kings. In fact, he might just be the biggest Kings fan out there. The comedy star professed his love for hockey years ago and these days you’ll be hard pressed to find a home game that Ferrell isn’t at. He has multiple jerseys, and is constantly finding funny and creative ways to promote the team over social media.
The Kings franchise has embraced Ferrell as well, regularly featuring him on the jumbo screen, the broadcasts, and social media. They even had Ferrell do play by play of a game in character as Ron Burgundy from the movie Anchorman. Ferrell lives and breathes this team, and we don’t see that changing any time soon.
