A former NFL player may have stopped yet another possible school shooting in this country after he stepped in at the right time.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Ziggy Hood recently stepped in to help a student and just may have prevented a school tragedy at Palo Duro High School in Texas. Hood, now a biology teacher and defensive line coach at Palo Duro High School, spoke to a student whom he thought was struggling.
According to KAMR’s Roushell Hamilton Jr., police would later make an arrest after they found an unidentified weapon on the school premises.
“After talking with him for a little bit, trying to explain to him, there’s multiple ways of going about this,” Hood said. “And one way was not the way which he had planned.”
Hood credited the local police department’s liaisons for keeping the school safe.
“Officers Matthews and Pedraza did a wonderful job that day, they protected everybody. I’m just glad that he didn’t get hurt, somebody else didn’t get hurt, or multiple people, you know, didn’t get hurt,” he said.
