How exactly will Zach Wilson feel if the New York Jets go out and sign another QB this offseason? The New York Jets quarterback is prepared to fight for his starting job if the team dares to bring in competition this offseason.
Asked how he’d react should the Jets add a veteran signal-caller, he responded he plans to “make that dude’s life hell in practice every day” and prove himself to the coaching staff.
After this past season, fans are starting to wonder whether Wilson is already a bust following a terrible 2022 campaign where he did not make any good strides anywhere in his game.
The 2021 first-round pick threw for 1,688 yards, six touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 54.5 percent of his passes in nine starts. He was also benched multiple times as well as booed by fans. When Mike White or Joe Flacco played, the offense looked the same if not better.
Heading into the final week of the year, head coach Robert Saleh said the franchise wasn’t giving up on Wilson.
“We’re gonna grind with him,” he told reporters. “Through hell or high water we’re going to get him to where we know he can be.”
