Zach Wilson came into the 2022 season with so much fanfare, but it had nothing to do with his talent on the field, but more so with rumors that he slept with his mom’s best friend.
Once that died down, he still had to show that he would be the man going forward with his play on the field. He did not do that as he got benched numerous times during the season and it appears his time playing for the Jets has come to an end. If so, it seems his teammates aren’t upset about it based on how they reacted to him this past regular season.
Per a new report, the Jets locker room actually ‘rejoiced’ when the team decided to bench Wilson for Mike White after he went 9-of-22 for 77 yards in a Week 11 loss to the New England Patriots. It came after his attitude about the game rubbed people the wrong way.
When Wilson got back in the starting lineup a couple of weeks later, some teammates “openly grumbled” in meetings.
Despite having better talent around him in 2022, Wilson played worse than he did as a rookie. The 23-year-old finished the season with 1,688 yards, six touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 54.5 completion percentage in nine starts.

In his place, White averaged 298 passing yards per game while Flacco threw for 1,051 yards, five touchdo, wns and three interceptions.
It’s quite clear that the QB of the future is not on the roster. Not having the right guy behind center spoiled what the defense was able to do. The Jets ranked fourth in points and yards allowed.
The Jets need to do everything they can to secure their guy this offseason and not waste this talent.
