Fans are reacting to a crazy stat from last season that has New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson looking very bad. It’s no wonder the team was as persistent as they were in their quest to land Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers is the new face of the team following an 18-year stint with the Green Bay Packers, during which he won a Super Bowl and four MVP awards.
The Jets are headed into what could be considered a championship-or-bust campaign given that Rodgers is not guaranteed to play past the end of 2023/24 and are doing all they can to surround him with some of the best talent available.
Wilson’s future is shrouded in uncertainty with Rodgers now the team’s QB1. At least one season playing understudy to the veteran could be just what his career needs. But him bouncing back from his horrible performances last season isn’t a sure thing.
Wilson’s time with the Jets hasn’t quite gone according to plan. The team made him the second-overall pick in 2021 yet he has failed to deliver on the promise he showed and dropped to new lows last season as he was benched for multiple games.
One stat from the past term shows that the Jets had the fewest passing yards per contest in the NFL when Wilson was a starter. According to Fantasy Points’ Scott Barret, who pointed this out, the team had the most passing yards in the league whenever he did not start.

Not a great look for the young QB. But it will be interesting to see how the addition of Rodgers impacts the team’s offense.
Something tells us it will go well.
