Even when Zach Wilson wins a game, he still cannot win with anybody.
The New York Jets are 3-3 as they headed into their bye week, which is remarkable since the team lost Aaron Rodgers to an Achilles injury in the first offensive series of the regular season.
Wilson spent the bye week with his family in Utah and posted quite a few pictures with his girlfriend during that time. It’s customary for players to spend some time with family during the week off and it gives many a chance to have a mental break from the action. Not everybody was happy to see him enjoying himself.
New York’s top sports radio station debated whether it was a good idea that the Jets starting quarterback spent a week away and not practicing to improve an offensive group ranked 28th in passing.
Shaun Morash of WFAN ripped Wilson during Wednesday’s episode of “Evan & Tiki.” He argued that Wilson couldn’t afford to take time off before the Jets-Giants game.
“Zach Wilson is about to play the most important football games of his career and rather than stay back and grind in NJ he took his gf back home to Utah to go apple picking,” Morash said. “Disgrace.”

Morash later doubled down saying that because Wilson is a professional athlete then his family should be the ones to come and see them in New York/New Jersey.
“The Jets stink after byes. His season derailed after the bye. I believe 52 guys could’ve gone and visited family but the quarterback, the leader, needs to be at the facility all week and he has not done enough to get his ass on a plane with his girlfriend to go to Utah.”
Here’s how fans reacted to what he said about Wilson:
Zach Wilson is only in his third NFL season, but already, people are noticing a difference this year compared to his first two. In seven games as the starting quarterback this season though, Wilson has shown monumental improvements over his first two years in the NFL.
In his first six games, Wilson has thrown for 1,097 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions. He maintains a 57.6% completion rate. Those numbers aren’t great, but it has the Jets sitting at .500.
Through six games, the Jets own a 3-3 record.
