Zach Wilson has shared his thoughts on the New York Jets trading for Aaron Rodgers this offseason.
Rodgers’ arrival in NY has pushed Wilson down the pecking order in the quarterback room as the veteran will be the team’s starting QB in 2023, barring injury. Despite the Jets making Wilson the second overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, calls for them to replace him were rife at the end of the 2022 season given his poor performances over the course of the term, one in which they lost all confidence in him.
Wilson previously vowed he would make the life of whatever veteran QB the Jets signed a living hell in practice. Back then, he had no idea it would be someone he considers an idol. He had remained silent on the back of the blockbuster trade that saw that veteran signal-caller come in but, this Friday, the 23-year-old opened up on the move.
The former BYU COugars star admitted that he couldn’t have expected to be happy as he wants to be “the guy” for the Jets. However, he claimed to be psyched over the trade, also revealing he spent time with Rodgers before trade talks even surfaced.

The Rodgers acquisition could actually be great for Wilson’s career as he’s set to play behind a four-time MVP who’s one of the greatest quarterbacks the game has ever produced.
Rodgers has since confirmed that Wilson is not making his life a living hell in practice.
