The New York Jets were in action this weekend, with the NFL preseason having kicked off. And fans couldn’t help but notice how similar one of Zach Wilson’s play-action passes was to Aaron Rodgers’.
The young quarterback has been demoted ahead of next season given that Rodgers joined the team as part of a trade. The veteran is poised to lead the offense for the next two seasons, and we’ll all see what happens from there.
Amid all of the criticism he’s gotten over the last few months, Zach gave fans a reason to get hyped as he passed for 123 yards, making 14 of his 20 throws for one touchdown and zero interceptions in a 27-0 rout against the Carolina Panthers.
The touchdown came as a result of a nifty play-action as Wilson faked a hand-off before throwing to Kenny Yeboah in the end zone.
Fans were already losing it over the play. But now a video has been made showing just how similar this was to one of Rodgers’ plays from his time with the Green Bay Packers.

Wilson unfortunately claimed he would make a veteran QB’s life a living hell in practice if the Jets signed one in the offseason. He had no idea it would be Rodgers, who confirmed the younger signal-caller was, in fact, not making his existence a living hell while speaking to reporters on the back of said trade.
It certainly looks like Wilson will be working on doing that moving forward.
