Zac Taylor has revealed when he plans to leave the Cincinnati Bengals, provided he has his way.
Taylor has been a major success since taking over as the Bengals head coach in 2019. Though his first two seasons were not all that great, he has guided the team to consecutive AFC Championship Games and got them to the Super Bowl last year.
The HC’s position is hardly under threat given the way the team has flourished under his tutelage, and he doesn’t have any plans to leave either (ever).
Taylor insists he wants to remain in his current role for as long as he’s alive.
“They’re gonna have to carry me out of here in a casket,” he said, per HuskerOnline. “I love it. Just specifically, Cincinnati. It’s a really good fit for my family and myself, and the other coaches, and ownership, and [Director of Player Personnel] Duke Tobin. I can’t ever imagine myself anywhere else. Yeah, they’ll have to kick me out of here.”
Of course, the NFL coaching cycle hardly allows for such longevity, though there are a few exceptions. Might Taylor end up being one of them? Time will tell, but he certainly hopes it works out that way.
