The Bengals have risen to the NFL’s elite thanks to having a quarterback like Joe Burrow playing behind center.
Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow has been engaged in negotiations for a contract extension throughout the offseason, but everybody wants to know his status for the season that starts this Sunday.
His impressive recovery from his recent calf injury has put him in position to start the Bengals’ season opener Sunday in Cleveland against the Browns. Bengals coach Zac Taylor announced that his quarterback would be a full practice participant on Wednesday.
Per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, “Bengals HC Zac Taylor said Joe Burrow is expected to practice in full today,” adding that “This puts him on track to start Sunday’s game vs. the Browns.”
All signs are pointing toward Burrow having success when against the Browns on Sunday.
Things are looking a little easier for Burrow as they will likely face a Browns secondary that will be wideout former Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward, who is in concussion protocol after suffering a head injury during the Browns’ final preseason game.

Burrow is also expected to sign a long-term deal prior to Sunday’s game that could make him the highest-paid player in NFL history. Burrow is set to make $11.5 million this season in the fourth year of his rookie deal.
The Bengals picked up his fifth-year option for the 2024 season, which is valued at $29.5 million.
