NFL Sunday Ticket being only on streaming is like having a good offensive line in the league. When it’s working great, you do not notice anything, but once it starts to suck, the issues become glaring and magnified.
When YouTube TV took over NFL Sunday Ticket, the key was ensuring that the experience was as good as it had been on DirecTV for the previous 25+ years.
It has been anything but that users have come across many problems on game day and now the company is trying to make up for it.
On Wednesday, YouTube announced they lowered the base package of Sunday Ticket to $174 from $349 according to Front Office Sports. It also dropped the version of Sunday Ticket with NFL RedZone included from $389 to $194.
For non-YouTube TV subscribers, discounted Sunday Ticket plans are still available. It’s $224 for the rest of the season or $244 with RedZone.
Users across social media reported suffering lag and long, repetitive buffering sessions with the streams throughout Sunday.
Cindy Boren of the Washington Post reported that customers complained when experiencing issues. YouTube TV acknowledged the issues, saying it was “working on a fix.”

Maybe the price change is the fix.
Some fans have expressed concerns about relying on streaming services for live sports but so far, YouTube has done a masterful job. nothing is going to be quite perfect as DirecTV had its fair share of issues in the past as well. The first year of streaming was expected to be rough and only going to get better from here.
YouTube TV has a seven-year NFL Sunday Ticket contract, so it has a while to iron out the kinks.
DirecTV had the exclusive rights to Sunday Ticket from 1994 through 2022. YouTube purchased the package for 2023 and beyond.
