NFL Sunday Ticket will be available from a different provider next season for the first time since 1994, with YouTube acquiring rights from the National Football League following a long-standing deal with DirecTV.
Fans can expect a bunch of new features given the switch, with the streaming service announcing several novel perks this Wednesday. Among those were monthly payment plans and student subscriptions.
Sunday Ticket will be available as an add-on for YouTube TV or as a standalone channel.
The full cost, which ranges from $349 to $489, could be broken up over several months for user ease, with YouTube announcing that an installment billing option will come out for all subscriptions this week while student plans will become available for eligible users sometime within the next week. The regular plan could be bought now for $299 but the price will go up to $349 on September 19.
The Student plan is probably the most significant given that DirecTV users had been calling for it, though YouTube has not disclosed the amount of money students will be able to save.
On a sour note, Georgia, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, and Tennessee will only have a single payment option.
