Dallas Cowboys superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has popped up frequently in the trade rumor over the past 72 hours, thanks to some strange comments made by owner Jerry Jones.
CeeDee Lamb is in a holdout with the hope of getting a new contract that will easily exceed $100 million. The 2020 first-round pick is entering the fifth and final year of his rookie contract.
Per The Athletic’s Jon Machota, Jones told reporters that he feels no “urgency” to get an extension done with Lamb. Obviously, it’s a peculiar public comment to make with Week 1 less than a month away.
The @SavageSports_ X/Twitter account proposed a fascinating trade idea that would see Dallas trade CeeDee Lamb to the NEw England Patriots in exchange for 2025 first and third-round picks and a 2026 third-rounder:
Seeing what the Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams trades fetched, it’s safe to say that Dallas would get at least one first-round pick in a trade for Lamb. Some teams could even be willing to offer two firsts for the Oklahoma product.

Lamb would be the ideal pickup for the Patriots because they lack play-making wide receivers. After all, they haven’t had a pass-catcher hit 1,000 yards in a season since 2019, when Julian Edelman reached the mark in his final year with Tom Brady.
Last season 2023, Lamb caught a league-leading 135 passes for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. Those all marked personal bests for the three-time Pro Bowler, who has 395 career receptions for 5,145 yards and 32 touchdowns.
Dallas Will Likely End Up Paying CeeDee Lamb
At the end of the day, the most likely outcome is that Jones gives in and pays Lamb the money he deserves. He’s a top-five receiver in football, and trading Lamb does nothing to help Dallas’ chances of winning a Super Bowl in the near future.
