Xavien Howard is not going to let his name be slandered without a fight.
Last week, an unnamed woman filed a lawsuit against Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard accusing him of knowingly giving her genital herpes, according to Devoun Cetoute and Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald.
The woman says in her lawsuit that when the pair first met in 2018, Howard said he didn’t have STDs and even showed her test results to confirm his statement. She said that he contracted herpes in 2019, but never informed her.
“With knowledge of his incurable sexually transmitted disease, and without disclosure, Defendant Howard continued to engage in unprotected sex with Plaintiff without informing her of same,” the lawsuit read.
She would go on to test positive for genital herpes in 2021.
Howard is now firing back at the woman in new court documents, obtained by TMZ Sport, calling the woman “a scorned ex-lover” and saying that the lawsuit is “the epitome of a shakedown.”

“In the documents, Howard argued the woman’s suit should be thrown out … and he says the woman has stalked him, threatened him with violence, and tried to extort him for cash.
In the docs, Howard claims he has text message proof that showed the woman is “nothing more than a scorned ex-lover who has elected to prey on [Howard’s] public status for the purpose of obtaining a financial windfall without right or claim.”
The cornerback also dropped some text messages that showed the woman threatening to “come to your job tomorro and cause a whole scene.”
The woman is seeking damages of more than $30,000 and has requested that the trial be heard in front of a jury.
The 29-year-old Howard is in his seventh season with the Dolphins. The three-time Pro Bowler and one-time first-team All-Pro has registered 15 tackles and five passes defensed this season. He has 27 interceptions in his career.
