WWE reportedly had plans for Pat McAfee and Aaron Rodgers to team up and shut social media down last year.
McAfee made his WWE NXT in-ring debut back in 2020, which was a loss to Adam Cole. McAfee had impressed fans and officials with his in-ring work in his next several matches.
McAfee was away from WWE until he moved to SmackDown in April 2021. However, Sports Illustrated reports that there was serious internal discussion of having McAfee return to NXT after the WarGames loss.
The idea was for McAfee to return to NXT and then jump Cole after aligning himself with a new partner, who was reportedly quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.
The idea would have made some sense since McAfee and Rodgers are close friends, with Rodgers appearing weekly on his show.
It would have no doubt brought NXT huge mainstream publicity, but never ended up happening.
