Willie McGinest just cannot seem to stay out of trouble.
The former New England Patriots star is being sued once again this year, but this time over an alleged gym altercation that took place two years ago, per TMZ Sports.
The lawsuit stated the altercation happened on June 21, 2021 at 24 Hour Fitness in Long Beach, California.
“The plaintiff, Andrew Cortez, claims he was using the bench press … when someone walked up and took one of his plates.
Cortez says he told the person he was not done with the weight … but he claims McGinest, the former New England Patriots pass rusher, overheard the exchange and said “The f*** you mean?”
According to the lawsuit, McGinest then socked Cortez in the face with a closed fist.
Cortez alleges three other men then jumped in … and, along with McGinest, proceeded to strike him in the head and back “30 to 40 times.”
Cortez claims he was left bloodied and injured after the incident was finally over. He added he has been suffering from emotional distress since the attack.
He’s asking for unspecified damages in his suit.

Earlier this year, McGinest was charged with two felonies stemming from an incident that took place at a restaurant in Southern California back in December. McGinest is facing up to four years in jail for each charge, which means he’s potentially staring at eight years behind bars.
McGinest is facing one charge of assault with a deadly weapon and one charge of assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury.
He was working for NFL Network at the time of the attack, but that job is now gone.
The former Patriots star spent 15 seasons in the NFL with 12 of those coming in New England. During his time with the Patriots, McGinest was a key player for three Super Bowl-winning teams.
