Earlier in the day, it was reported that former New England Patriots star linebacker and current NFL analyst Willie McGinest had been arrested in Los Angeles.
Details at the time were murky, but things have become much more clear in the time since.
Shortly after the report was released of McGinest’s arrest, it was revealed that he had been involved in an assault that took place a few weeks ago. And with his bail set at $30,000, you had to figure he was facing some pretty serious chargers.
In the time since, footage has emerged of the incident, which took place at Delilah nightclub in West Hollywood on December 9.
In the video, McGinest and his crew can be seen walking up to a man who’s seated in a booth. McGinest appears to get in the man’s face and say something to him, and as the man begins to get up, Willie clocks him with a left before his entire entourage gets involved.
At one point in the video, McGinest can be seen smashing the man in the face with a bottle while his pants are falling down. He eventually tosses the bottle, lifts his pants back up, and walks away from the scene.

McGinest turned himself into authorities this morning and posted bail shortly after. As for the victim, he has yet to be identified publicly.
McGinest played 12 seasons with the Patriots, winning three Super Bowls as a member of their dynasty. He later joined the Cleveland Browns for the remaining three seasons of his NFL career. He has since found work as an analyst, most recently working on the NFL Network.
It’s doubtful that we’ll be seeing him breaking down games on television anytime in the near future following his latest legal troubles.
