Former New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns linebacker Willie McGinest has broken his silence on his arrest.
McGinest was arrested and subsequently charged for assault with a deadly weapon for an incident on Dec. 9. Video footage shows the three-time Super Bowl champion punching a man and hitting him with a bottle at a West Hollywood bar.

McGinest has since addressed the ordeal. In his Instagram story, McGinest posted a message that reads “Things aren’t always how they seem at first glance. The Truth will prevail.” You can see a screenshot of his Instagram story below:
The 51-year-old McGinest has also been suspended from his role as an analyst on NFL Network, a spokesperson confirmed to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk earlier this week.

McGinest played college football at USC and was drafted fourth overall by the Patriots in 1994. He played for the organization until 2005, helping them to Super Bowl championships in the 2001, 2003 and 2004 seasons.
The New England Patriots Hall of Famer played his final three seasons with the Cleveland Browns (2006 to 2008) before retiring. After his playing career, McGinest joined NFL Network as an analyst.
