Yesterday was a sad day for many NFL players, as teams were forced to make several cuts in order to trim their rosters down to 53.
Luckily for some of those cutdown day casualties, they aren’t being forced to wait very long to find new homes.
That’s the case for former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, who was cut by the team following their final preseason game in order to make room for their recent trade acquisition, Trey Lance.
Grier was told before Dallas’ final preseason game that he would be cut, regardless of how he performed against the Raiders. But he didn’t let that news drag him down.
Rather, he took the field and totally balled out, completing 29 of 35 pass attempts for 305 yards, two passing touchdowns, and another 53 rushing yards and two touchdowns for good measure.
That performance clearly caught the eye of the Cincinnati Bengals, who decided to sign the 28-year-old vet to their practice squad.

The belief is that Grier will take on the third-string quarterback role, backing up Joe Burrow and Jake Browning on a Cincy team that’s expected to once again compete for a Super Bowl.
Grier is entering his fifth year in the NFL. He was a third-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2019, and has started just two games through his first four seasons.
