The Deshaun Watson sweepstakes have never been hotter. On Friday, a grand jury decided not to indict him on criminal charges. According to multiple reports, the Carolina Panthers plan to make an “aggressive” offer for Watson in the coming days.
According to a new report from NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Cleveland Browns have “done their homework” on Watson. Wilson named the Browns as a “wildcard” to land the Texans quarterback.
“Cleveland Browns have done a lot of work on Deshaun Watson lately and are now regarded as a wild-card entry into this expanding trade market, per a league source,” Wilson said.
Watson still faces 22 civil lawsuits alleging misconduct, as well as potential NFL discipline with the league still investigating on their side.
You have to believe that QB Baker Mayfield is not going to be happy about this report, but he took a major step back last season with the team missing the postseason one year after a dream 2020 year where they qualified for the postseason and defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Houston can agree to a trade at any time, but it could not be made official until the new league year starts at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
All the teams understand the NFL still could suspend Watson for a certain number of games if it finds he violated the league’s personal code of conduct.
His talent is more than enough for them to ignore that suspension.
