The Dallas Cowboys are just not getting things right at the moment. Trying to take over Texas with a win over their archrival, the Texans, the plan failed miserably. While they lost by a humiliating 10-34 margin, there was more to worry about than just the loss. Markquese Bell, their safety, looked to have dislocated his shoulder within the first few minutes of the kickoff. After being stretchered off the field, things looked quite grim for the Dallas outfit. And even before the match started, in an attempt to open the roof of the AT&T Stadium roof, the Cowboys got away with a major accident scare.
What Happened To The AT&T Stadium Roof?
It was after two long years that the Dallas Cowboys decided to open the roof of the AT&T Stadium during their game. Unfortunately, the process could not be completed fully as a piece of metal fell off while the roof was opening! This could have been fatal if the metal would have hit any athlete or crowd. While that didn’t happen, thankfully, the authorities did not take a chance and decided to keep the roof closed for security concerns. Jon Machota of The Athletic on X initially reported the entire incident.
Later on, the Cowboys released an official statement accepting the near-fatal incident. “We can confirm a piece of metal came loose and fell to the field [with some additional small debris] while the roof was in the process of opening… There were no injuries. It is being reviewed further. And a decision regarding the ability to re-open the roof safely will be made when possible,” said the Cowboys in their statement.

Now, while the incident sent shockwaves of fear among the crowd, speculations soon started to spread about how a part of the roof could fall off. Well, there is an answer to the question as well.
How Did A Part Of The Roof Fall At The Cowboys’ Home Stadium?
Well, ESPN has suggested due to the height of the stadium’s roof, strong winds were the probable culprits. Another video uploaded on X by Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star portrayed a technician perched on top of the area from where the piece of metal fell off. The engineer tried to fathom the pain point as he scraped off the remaining loose pieces to avoid any unwanted circumstances.
