Kyle Van Noy from the Baltimore Ravens recently took a swing at the Kansas City Chiefs medical team for their slow response to his injury. This has kicked off a larger conversation about how NFL teams handle player safety.
In the Ravens game against the Chiefs, Van Noy ended up with a fractured orbital bone while going after Patrick Mahomes. Given how serious that kind of injury can be, everyone was on edge.
But Van Noy had to wait a whole quarter before getting any treatment, which he found completely ‘unacceptable’ and unprofessional. He talked about it on his podcast “McCoy & Van Noy,” stressing how important it is for players to get quick and proper care.
Kyle Van Noy stated, “The Chiefs’ training staff disappointed me in handling the situation. When you’re hurt, particularly with something serious like mine, you should depend on the team’s medical staff.”
“I needed to see an ophthalmologist for my eye, but it took them a whole quarter to reach me in the locker room, which is unacceptable. What if I needed to return to the game or was seriously injured?“
“Mine was moderate but still serious because it’s the eye. You expect the training staff to be prompt, and there should have been more urgency”

Kansas City Chiefs Medical Staff Faces Criticism Amid Kyle Van Noy’s Injury Concerns
This is not the first time the Chiefs medical staff has faced criticism. The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) recently gave them a failing grade, placing them near the bottom of the rankings. “The players have given that training room an F,’ Van Noy said. ‘With my experience, I would’ve probably after that given them an F, too.”
This delay causes everyone to wonder how well a team manages injuries, especially long-term ones. Players really need their medical teams to act quickly, and waiting too long can make them lose trust. Although Van Noy wondered about whether being a visitor could have changed things, he doesn’t really believe that was the problem.
As the Ravens gear up for their next game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Van Noy’s injury remains a major concern. He’s seeing specialists, and there’s no set timeline for his return. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are preparing to face the Cincinnati Bengals, and their medical staff will likely remain in the spotlight.
