Jordan Love, the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, has an inspiring story, much of which comes from his parents. Born on November 2, 1998, in Bakersfield, California, he grew up with three sisters—Kami, Emily, and Alexis. His parents, Anna and Orbin Love, were both police officers; Anna worked for the California Highway Patrol, and Orbin was a sergeant at the Bakersfield Police Department.
Orbin wasn’t just a dad. He was Jordan’s biggest fan and coach. He was at every practice and every game and even played pick-up basketball with Jordan and his friends. He told anyone who’d listen that Jordan was going to make it big. Then, everything changed in 2013. Orbin passed away at 51, and Jordan was just 14. It was a devastating loss, and Jordan said it was “the darkest moment” of his life. He even considered quitting football.
That’s when Anna stepped up. She knew how much football meant to Jordan, and even though she was grieving, too, she pushed him to keep going. “My mom … she’s the one that really pushed me [to] stick it out another year and see what happens,” Jordan said. Anna kept the family strong through their pain and made sure Jordan never felt alone. She never missed a game, even when he was redshirting as a freshman at Utah State. “It’s nice to know she’s there. I try to look for her in the stands. It’s an awesome feeling,” he said.

Jordan’s Journey Wouldn’t Have Been The Same Without Anna’s Support And Orbin’s Lessons
Anna’s commitment didn’t change when Jordan moved up to the NFL. One story that stands out is when he made his first start at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Anna had to sit all the way up in the nosebleed section, but she was there, cheering her heart out. “She’s been at every game,” Jordan said. “I tell her, ‘You know I’m not playing, you don’t have to go out of your way to come to these games.’ She’s like, ‘No, I’m going to be there. I want to see you.’ So, that’s been awesome.”
Jordan has said that his parents shaped who he is. Losing Orbin taught him early on that life isn’t perfect and that bad things can happen, but you have to keep going. “It taught me at a young age that adversity happens in life,” he said. “You want life to be perfect … but life goes on, and things happen, and it’s not that way.” Even though Orbin isn’t here to see his son’s success, Jordan knows he’d be proud. “I know if my dad was here, he’d be super proud and just have a lot of good things to say right now,” he shared.

Jordan’s journey is a reminder that the people who lift and support one make all the difference. Anna’s love and Orbin’s belief in him helped turn Jordan into the man and player he is today. And even though his father is no longer here, Anna’s support continues to guide him every step of the way.
