Eight weeks into the 2024 NFL season and the picture is getting much clearer—who’s on top, who’s struggling, and who’s about to make some big moves at the trade deadline. The Buffalo Bills? They’re definitely in that “let’s make a run” mindset. Sitting pretty at 5-2 with a comfy lead in the AFC East, they look like serious buyers. In fact, Bills GM Brandon Beane pretty much hinted at it during his recent chat on The Pat McAfee Show.
They’ve already made a splash by grabbing wide receiver Amari Cooper from Cleveland, which is filling an important need. But Buffalo’s not done. They still have a couple of gaps to address—especially regarding linebacker and safety depth.
Let’s break down three potential trade targets who could significantly impact Buffalo’s roster as they seek a deep playoff run.
3. Andre Cisco – Jacksonville Jaguars
One player that makes a lot of sense for the Buffalo Bills is Jacksonville Jaguars safety Andre Cisco. At 2-5, the Jaguars might already be out of playoff contention in the AFC, and that could push them into “seller” mode as they look to build for the future. Cisco, a fourth-year player with plenty of starting experience, might be available if Jacksonville sees him as expendable or if they plan on moving in a different direction at safety long-term.
Cisco has been a steady contributor for the Jaguars this season, with 36 total tackles, four passes defended, and one interception through seven games. His experience and physicality would immediately upgrade Buffalo’s secondary, especially with injuries and depth concerns looming in that part of the defense. Securing a player like Cisco could be crucial if the Bills hope to keep up with high-powered offenses like the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC.
The best part for the Bills? Cisco is set to become a free agent after the season, which means his price could be relatively low. Jacksonville might be willing to part with him for a day-three draft pick. With Buffalo holding seven projected day-three picks in the 2025 NFL Draft—including two compensatory picks that aren’t yet confirmed—this could be a win-win deal for both teams. Cisco’s ability to step in as a starter would be a huge plus for the Bills, who would get his services at a bargain price without sacrificing future premium draft capital.

2. Divine Deablo – Las Vegas Raiders
Another intriguing option for the Buffalo Bills is Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Divine Deablo. The Raiders, currently sitting in the basement of the AFC West, are unlikely to make a playoff run this season, meaning they could be open to moving some of their younger players who might not be in their long-term plans.
A third-round pick in 2021, Deablo has emerged as one of the more promising pass-rushing linebackers in the NFL. Pro Football Focus currently ranks him 18th among linebackers as a pass rusher, and his ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks could fill a major void for Buffalo. The Bills, who have struggled at times with pass rush consistency, could certainly use a linebacker with Deablo’s skill set.
Deablo is also playing on the final year of his rookie contract, making him a potential rental for Buffalo. Much like Cisco, Deablo likely wouldn’t cost the Bills more than a day-three pick. He would be an affordable addition to the linebacker corps, providing immediate depth and playmaking ability, especially on passing downs. The Bills need some extra firepower in their front seven, and Deablo would give them a dynamic weapon for defensive coordinator Sean McDermott to deploy.

1. Grant Delpit – Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns have already shown they are open for business, having traded wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills and reportedly fielding calls for other key players like Za’Darius Smith and even superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett. S Grant Delpit, despite being a highly regarded talent coming out of college, hasn’t entirely lived up to the hype in recent seasons.
Delpit, who signed a contract extension with Cleveland toward the end of last season, hasn’t been as dominant as expected in 2024, and the Browns might be willing to move on from him. A change of scenery could be what Delpit needs to reinvigorate his career. Buffalo would be a great landing spot for him—Delpit would instantly add depth and talent to their secondary, and he would have the chance to grow in a system that values versatility in its defensive backs.
What makes Delpit an appealing target is his contract situation. He’s signed through 2026, meaning the Bills wouldn’t just be getting a half-season rental—they’d be acquiring a player with multiple years left on his deal. His cap hit for the remainder of 2024 is a manageable $3.676 million, which Buffalo could fit into their budget with some maneuvering.
If the Bills are looking for a longer-term solution at safety while also upgrading their defense for a playoff push, Delpit could be the ideal acquisition. He’s a high-upside player who, in the right system, could still fulfill the potential that made him a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
