Nothing quite like December football weather… Although, you rarely expect it to come from the state of Florida.
That’ll be the case tonight, however, as a big-time AFC battle between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens at Everbank Field is set to get hit with a brutal east coast storm.
According to reports, there is currently a flood watch in Jacksonville for Sunday. the good news is that the rain is expected to possible slow, and even stop by the time the two teams are ready to kick off on Sunday Night Football.
However, it’s not all good news for those who are hoping for clear skies and an all-out passing attack between two of the league’s premiere quarterbacks.
According to Rotogrinders‘ chief meteorologist, Kevin Roth, the game is still expected to get hit with some brutal winds, with gusts up to 40 mph, even after the storm passes.
Latest models show an outer band of this east coast storm pulling away from JAX right around gametime, but it still has major implications to the forecast. First, a chance for rain early. Second, and more importantly, high-resolution forecast and hitting JAX with (brace yourselves) 50-60mph wind gusts while the storm moves through. Most of that would be pregame, but even lingering into the game we’re talking gusts of 40mph. I’ll need to monitor radar trends and timing here, but I’ve upped the impact level on this game.
