The Washington Football Team is set to make its official announcement about a new team name on Feb. 2nd, but it appears we may have found it out already.
A Twitter user spotted that the domain, Commanders.com, had been transferred to MarkMonitor, the company the NFL uses to handle most of its domain names for its teams and brands. That was then confirmed by Whois internet record listing that Commanders.com is now handling the oversight of the domain.
MarkMonitor is the registrar for the NFL’s official website and all but six of the NFL’s teams.
We were only about a week away from finding out what the Washington Football Team’s new team name will be officially, and it if does end up being the Commanders, the fan base is already unhappy.
