When Alex Smith last played a down of football, Washington was still going by the Redskins nickname and had the logo. If he steps foot on the field again, the team will have neither, but he won’t care in the least bit after the huge news he received recently.
Alex Smith, who suffered a devastating tibia and fibula fracture in 2018, has received clearance from his surgical team to return to full football activity.
Via ESPN:
“Smith, who spoke to ESPN while filming an update for his E:60 documentary “Project 11,” is in the process of going through COVID-19 testing and expects to report Monday to the team’s facility, where he will undergo a team physical.
Once there, the team is expected to determine the next steps for Smith’s eventual participation in training camp.”
Leaving the game of football has never been an option for him, even after 15+ surgeries to his leg.
Before his injury, Smith completed 205 of 308 passes for 2,180 yards and 10 touchdowns with five interceptions on the season and led the Redskins to a 6-3 record.
