The Washington Football Team has narrowed its list of potential options for a new name to three choices, the team announced in its latest YouTube video, Making the Brand.
“I like [redacted],” Rivera said.
“I really like [redacted], Wright responded.
However, the team made sure to bleep out the three finalists, and displayed eight potential name options to a group of fans watching the names and logos on the scoreboard from inside FedExField.
The options were: Presidents, Brigade, RedHogs, Washington Football Team, Commanders, Armada, Defenders, RedWolves.
“We have a very diverse fan base and what we’re seeing emerge as we engage folks is a commonality that is beautiful. Resilience. Grit. Tradition. Nobility. History. A sense of pride. These are things that unite us,” Jason Wright, team president, said on the video. “So our new name and logo should allow that spirit to continue. That is our commitment going forward and our promise to our fan base. Wherever we go from here, we will go together.”
Team president Jason Wright cleared up any confusion on Thursday caused by the names that appeared in yesterday’s video.

“Just to be clear, because everyone keeps asking, we are down to and working through a final three but this is no form of final 8 list. These are just a selection of names that happened to show up in the video our team produced,” he wrote.
Wright and the WFT organization have narrowed “40,000 submissions” down to three undisclosed names and logos.
Even though it was widely mocked after the Redskins name was taken away, many fans have grown attached to the ‘Football Team’ nickname.
