Alex Smith was officially activated from the physically unable to perform list on Sunday, and it took him no time to hit the practice field, which was a welcome sight for his Washington teammates.
Washington shared a short video on Twitter that showed Smith throwing some passes in a helmet. It may not seem like much, but it was huge for a guy who hasn’t practiced in almost two years.
Smith suffered a tibia and fibula fracture during Washington’s loss to Houston on Nov. 18, 2018 and subsequently went through some 17 surgeries to get himself to this point.
He spent the next month in a hospital, then 3 in a wheelchair, then 8 in an external fixator. Those 17 surgeries came within 9 months.
