Before the 2020 season gets here, the Washington franchise will have a new nickname after owner Dan Snyder was forced to retire the Redskins logo and name amid pressure from sponsors and retailers.
Washington owner Daniel Snyder announced the decision.
“On July 3rd, we announced the commencement of a thorough review of the team’s name. That review has begun in earnest. As part of this process, we want to keep our sponsors, fans and community apprised of our thinking as we go forward.
Today, we are announcing we will be retiring the Redskins name and logo upon completion of this review,” the Washington football team announced.
The team has yet to find a name, but that hasn’t stopped social media from finding ones that they like.
One such name is the “Red Wolves,” and one fan went ahead and made some sweet uniform mockups.
“Easily the best mock-up I have seen for the rebrand. No contest. This is the one,” NBC Sports Washington’s Chase Hughes tweeted.
