Dan and Tanya Snyder completed a signed agreement with the Josh Harris group to sell the franchise for $6.05 billion back in May. Harris reportedly has 20 limited partners including local billionaire Mitchell Rales and fellow sports franchise owner Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
We may have a huge problem ahead.
The sale of the Washington Commanders could be delayed. Whatever the issue is, it is ‘significant,’ and ‘not just some small snag,’ one source told The Washington Post: ‘Hopefully it gets resolved. But at this point, it’s serious.’
“The complications are related at least in part to legal issues pertaining to the leaking of emails that led to the October 2021 resignation of Jon Gruden as coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.”
Although the exact issue remains unclear, two sources with inside knowledge of the deal told the Post that the problems could impact the NFL’s plans to have team owners approve the sale at league meetings in Minneapolis next week.

If approved, Josh Harris will buy the Commanders from Dan Snyder for $6.05 billion, which would be the most expensive sale most expensive in North American sports.
Head coach Ron Rivera will undoubtedly be under the most pressure with the new ownership as the team has gone 22-27-1 in his three seasons as head coach. With new ownership Rivera will have no ties to Harris, putting more pressure on him to produce in his fourth year.
This is the second time Rivera has undergone an ownership change and it ended with him being fired by the Carolina Panthers over a year after David Tepper became the owner.
