When it comes to the first round of the NFL Draft, most players make sure to be in attendance so they can make that stroll to hug Roger Goodell and take pictures with the jersey of the team that selected them.
Then, there is Penn State star Jahan Dotson, who was chosen by the Washington Commanders with the No. 16 overall pick. Not only was he not in Las Vegas, but he also wasn’t even watching the draft.
Washington head coach Ron Rivera had to get his attention after he called him and told the youngster he was about to be selected.
So what was he doing? He told reporters he was watching Game 6 between the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans on his phone.
It’s very likely he thought he might not be getting selected until the second round.
In four seasons at PSU, Dotson hauled in 183 receptions for 2,757 yards and 25 touchdowns, including 20 scores in his final two campaigns.
