Late last week, Bengals safety Vonn Bell spoke to reporters and talked about JuJu Smith-Schuster’s dancing on team logos before the game.
“It’s kind of disrespectful at the end of the day,” Bell told reporters earlier this week on a video conference. “But they’re on top right now so you can’t really say nothing right now. We just gotta go out there, between the lines, go out there and hit him and let him know where he stands.”
In the first quarter Monday night, he got a chance to follow through on the message by delivering a bone-crushing hit that caused the WR to fumble the ball.
“I seen 19,” Bell said, via Paul Dehner of TheAthletic.com. “I’m not a boastful guy, man. I just go out there and let my play do the talking. It just happened that it comes to that. I’m just playing football, man. Just going out there and trying to make a play.”
That hit clearly sparked the Bengals defense, as they allowed just 17 points and 244 yards in Monday’s win over Pittsburgh.
