Back in May, the Minnesota Vikings drafted Pittsburgh’s Jaylen Twyman, and then the following month, he would find himself being shot four times while visiting his aunt in Washington D.C. Twyman suffered gunshot wounds to the arm, leg, buttocks and shoulder.
He has since made a full recovery and now the 6’2”, 301-pound Twyman is ready to go for the start of Minnesota’s training camp.
Back in June, Stephanie Twyman, Jaylen’s mother, described the shooting to TwinCities:
“They were shooting at everyone, anyone that was outside,” she said. “It was not a targeted shooting. They were shooting at everyone. It just so happens he was leaving his aunt’s house and he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
The 6-2, 290 pound Twyman had a breakout 2019 campaign in which he exploded for 10.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss to earn First Team All-ACC honors, as well as All-American recognition from multiple publications.
He took the COVID-19 opt-out in 2020.
