The Minnesota Vikings seem to be making their stance on Dalvin Cook very clear to the fan base.
Dalvin Cook’s future remains up in the air given his cap hit of approximately $14 million, but the Minnesota Vikings made their biggest move this week after they scrubbed him from their social media banner.
The team has him off their Twitter banner and replacing him with fellow running back Alexander Mattison who is up there with Justin Jefferson, Kirk Cousins, and T.J. Hockenson.
Cook was linked to the Dolphins around the draft, but the franchise would select Texas A&M’s De’Von Achane in the third round and have something of a crowded running back rotation with the rookie alongside Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., and Myles Gaskin.
Cook is very much talented, but the 28-year-old is coming off shoulder surgery at a position that is generally considered replaceable when the 2023 season begins.
Other teams may not be jumping at the chance to trade for his contract, especially since he could hit the market following a release. It appears that money would be what would break up Cook and the Vikings. The team reportedly asked Cook to adjust his salary this season, but he balked at that suggestion.

While they surely want to keep him, the Vikings appear to be ready to part with Cook in order to free up cap space.
The Florida State product has been named to four Pro Bowls and has rushed for more than 1,100 yards in each of the last four seasons. Despite having shoulder surgery this offseason, he played in all 17 games in 2022, finishing with 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground and 39 catches for 295 yards and two scores as a pass-catcher.
