Football is secondary for Everson Griffen and the Minnesota Vikings organization right now, as the team and their star pass-rusher deal with a scary, life-threatening situation.
Early this morning, Griffen posted, then deleted, a video to his Instagram account in which he claims people are trying to kill him. In the video, Griffen flashes a loaded gun while he worryingly sits in his bed. He also claims that the gun is licensed and Vikings running back Dalvin Cook helped him purchase it.
Recent reports indicate the situation is on-going, with police and psychologists on scene at Griffen’s house in an attempt to get him to safely come out. According to his 911 call, Griffen fired one shot in his house, but he claims no one was injured. Police believe the four-time Pro Bowler is currently alone in his home.
The Vikings have since released a statement, revealing that they also have their mental health professionals on scene in an attempt to help Griffen through this troubling situation.
Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer claims he was made aware of the situation at around 2-3 am, and is currently unaware of whether Griffen is safe at the moment.
