One prominent player on the Minnesota Vikings might be seeing his time with the team come to an end.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen could become a free agent after ESPN’s Adam Schefter said there’s a “real possibility” Thielen and the Vikings will part ways in the coming days.
“The two sides will talk in coming days, but his time in Minnesota could be coming to an end,” said Schefter.
Right now, Thielen has two years remaining on his deal and he has a cap hit for the 2023 season is currently at $19.9 million. It would be the second-highest cap hit on the team for next season as things stand right now.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler previously reported that Thielen’s “$20 million cap hit must be reworked, and it wouldn’t surprise if talks resulted in a fresh start.”
Last month, Thielen revealed he was “working through some stuff” with the Vikings’ front office.

“It’s a little interesting,” Thielen said while on The Pat McAfee Show. “We’re working through some stuff because I’ve got a big cap hit… My contract fully guarantees on, I think, March 16.”
In 2022, Thielen appeared in all 17 games for the Vikings and caught 70 passes for 716 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
