I’m not sure what’s going on with Everson Griffin right now, but based on what happened to former Raiders first round pick Damon Arnette after he posted a video of himself totting a gun around his house, this probably won’t end well for the Minnesota Vikings defensive end.
Griffin posted (then deleted) a video of himself holding a gun, which he describes as a 45 Wilson Combat, while claiming that he’s in his house and a group of men are trying to “pop” him. In the video, he also claims that Dalvin Cook helped him purchase the gun.
Whether Griffin was actually under attack, or if this is an issue regarding his mental health, remains unknown. Here’s the video, which has since been deleted from his instagram account:
This is especially concerning because of Griffen’s past issues with mental health. Back in 2018, it was reported that he threatened to shoot someone at Minnesota’s Hotel Ivy. The police report indicated that he was telling hotel staff he was going to shoot someone if they didn’t let him in his room.
He also threatened to assault staff members at the hotel and at one point was laying on the lobby floor, causing a scene. He was eventually taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
Now, it appears as though he’s dealing with another situation that has many of us worried about the star pass-rusher’s mental health. It would be a surprise if he plays against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend, but that should be the least of everyone’s concerns at this point. Right now, all we can do is pray for Griffen’s well-being. Let’s hope he gets the help he needs.
