Minnesota Vikings star pass-rusher Danielle Hunter made $1 million in bonuses in Saturday’s contest against the Cincinnati Bengals, and it was all thanks to a disastrous trick play by the home team.
Per Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune, Hunter added $1 million in incentives for exceeding the 14-sack mark this season. Hunter clinched the $1 million by “sacking” Bengals tight end Tanner Hudson, who lost yardage on a trick play that called for him to throw the ball:
Hunter was the subject of trade rumors in the offseason due to unhappiness with his contract situation. The Vikings wound up adding incentives to his deal, and it has certainly worked out for both parties.
The 29-year-old Hunter made extra money in incentives but has also positioned himself nicely for a massive payday next offseason, be it from Minnesota or another team.
