The referees working Sunday’s game between the Washington Commanders and Tennessee Titans have come under fire after failing to penalize the former for a blatant facemask pull that could have seriously injured an opposing player.
Titans running back Julius Chestnut was returning a kick when a Commanders player came flying at him, grabbing his helmet and forcing his head to the left. The call seemed obvious enough, and a flag did hit the turf; however, it was against Tennessee, with the officials handing out an illegal block in the back penalty.

Fans on social media couldn’t understand the commanders’ lack of punishment, especially with the commentators fueling the protests.
“Can’t get more obvious than that,” an X user wrote in the comments.

“What is up with the refs lately? They seem to be way worse than usual, with tons of bad calls and no-calls,” another wondered.
“I think the whole world knows at this point that NFL officiating is a completely broken system,” said a third.
“Damn near broke his neck 😂,” someone pointed out.
The Washington Commanders had built up a 28-7 lead by the early third quarter at the time of writing.
