Social media detectives believe that Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver George Pickens is using a burner account to defend himself following the team’s Week 5 home loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After posting his best game of the season against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4, George Pickens was limited to just three receptions on seven targets for 26 yards as the Cowboys escaped with a 20-17 road win.
Post-game video analysis has shown Pickens seemingly giving little effort on some of his routes throughout the game. Per Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com, head coach Mike Tomlin cited “load management” behind Pickens’ efforts on some of the routes.
George Pickens hasn’t been shy in expressing his displeasure when he doesn’t get the ball as much as he would like. So naturally, fans can’t help but be critical of the third-year wide receiver when he has a quiet game.
Social media detectives have found an X/Twitter account with no avatar they believe is Pickens’ burner account:

Pickens had a career year in 2023, catching 63 receptions for 1,140 yards and five touchdowns. The Steelers upgraded at QB by bringing in both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, and they traded fellow standout receiver Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers.
So it was easy to assume that George Pickens would hit another level here in 2024. There’s still time, but a 23-310-0 stat line through five games isn’t quite what Pickens and the Steelers expected.
The 3-2 Steelers will try to bounce back when they visit the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
Steelers Need Another WR, Not More Targets For George Pickens
The Steelers’ may wish to get more targets for Pickens, but they really need a No. 2 WR more than anything else. The Johnson trade left a void at wideout that hasn’t been filled, so don’t be surprised if GM Omar Khan makes a trade before the Nov. 5 deadline.
