Justin Fields is going to have a major chip on his shoulder with the amount of trolling coming his way.
EA announced that the launch trailer for Madden 25 would be available, and it finally came out on Thursday.
Ahead of the highly anticipated release of Madden NFL 25, EA Sports dropped a gameplay trailer that featured an opening scene of a kickoff and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields catching the ball and returning it.

The trailer detailed the game’s Boom Tech feature, which is described as “a new dynamic physics-based tackling system that lets you dominate the gridiron like a bonafide NFL superstar.”
“For a couple of years, there were a lot of things that we needed to do. Needed,” Madden NFL 25 senior producer Michael Mahar told Nick Shook of NFL.com. “And we are doing more and more of what we want to do. And what we want to do is to deliver a lot of things that our players are telling us they want. A lot of innovations in gameplay and elsewhere in the game. I don’t think we ever get there, but there has been a shift.
Mahar added, “We have momentum. We shipped Madden 24, we talked to you all last year, we were hoping it resonated. And just the sheer volume of people that played it as much as they did, for as long as they did, really helped us believe.”
So, why is Fields is returning kicks in the game? That news came out last month when Steelers running back Jaylen Warren told teammate Cameron Heyward that special teams coordinator Danny Smith is considering having Fields be a kick returner for the 2024 season.
“Our special teams coordinator was talking about Justin Fields being back there,” Warren said on the most recent episode of the “Not Just Football” podcast. “We were like, ‘Hold up! Hold up!’ We looked at him like, ‘Justin Fields is about to be back there?’”
If the Steelers have plans for Justin Fields to be the future quarterback, having him on kickoffs would be putting him in harm’s way, which could easily end in injury at the most important position in the game.
Justin Fields Traded To The Pittsburgh Steelers But Faces Uphill Battle Behind Russell Wilson
Justin Fields was acquired via trade from the Bears in exchange for a conditional sixth-round draft choice that becomes a fourth-rounder if he plays 51 percent of snaps.
That is unlikely to happen since everyone seems to agree he is behind Russell Wilson on the depth chart.
Not helping matters were conflicting reports about Justin Fields’ performance at minicamp that were not getting rave reviews.
Fields may be the ideal candidate for some strange plays in 2024, but not much time will be spent with him behind center.
