Xavier Legette is quickly becoming a fan favorite, and not just among Carolina Panthers supporters.
The former South Carolina Gamecocks wide receiver’s surprising accent has social media going wild, and fans can’t get enough of it. Some are already asking for him to be Mic’d up every game.
Take a listen below:
“Maybe someone from @LingSocAm could explain why I’ve never heard anyone speak quite like him,” one fan commented. “Happy for Xavier, and I hope he has a great career, especially after all he’s been through.”

The Carolina Panthers Traded Up To Make Sure They Got Xavier Legette
The Panthers selected Xavier Legette as the 32nd overall pick on Thursday after moving up to the first round via a trade with the Buffalo Bills that saw them send their 33rd and 141st pick the other way.
Taking Legette in the first round instead of waiting for the second round means they will have a fifth-year option on the player’s rookie contract, plus they didn’t want to risk missing out.
Legette, 23, played in South Carolina for five years and experienced a breakout campaign in 2023, making 71 catches for 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s just the fifth Gamecocks receiver to pass the 1,000-yard mark.
The wideout made an official 30-visit to the Panthers and returned to their facilities multiple times. Coaches had been looking at him for several months, and the player admitted he felt like they might take him from the Senior Bowl in January.
“We had three days we had to meet with teams and each day I had to meet with the Panthers,” he said, per the Panthers official website. “That’s when I realized ok they really want me. And then I just kept meeting with them.“
If his NFL performances turn out to be half as good as his accent, the Panthers will have drafted themselves a remarkable receiver.
