Ex-NFL player Travis Rudolph is accused of killing a man in 2021. The former FSU and NY Giants wide receiver is trying to claim self-defense.
This week, footage came out showing what led to the shooting.
On the night in question, Rudolph had just gotten into a fight with his girlfriend at his home in West Palm Beach. The released video shows the fight escalated when four men confronted Rudolph at his home after his ex-girlfriend called her brother to come ‘shoot shit up.’
Two men were shot and it was not Rudolph and his brother. Sebastien Jean-Jacques died and Tyler Robinson was hospitalized but recovered.
Dominique Jones, the former girlfriend, actually testified that she never intended for her brother and his friends to hurt Rudolph when she texted her brother to “shoot up his s—” after learning that she was being cheated on.

What makes things crazier is that Jones was still married to another man.

“Isn’t the moral of the story is that you sent your brother and your friends to go kill Travis?” Perlet asked Jones.
“No, the moral of the story is him putting his hands on me,” she said. “That is really the basis of everything, and I didn’t send my brothers to kill him.”
“No, you just sent a text to go ‘shoot up his s—,’ right?” Perlet said.
“I didn’t say shoot him,” Jones answered.
When asked to explain what she meant by her text message, Jones said it was “nothing violent toward a person.”
“I was upset and my adrenaline was running and I said something that I didn’t mean,” Jones said.
She went on to say that she “didn’t necessarily mean for anything to happen to Travis, his family, his house, or anything.”
The 27-year-old Rudolph is charged with one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the shooting that killed Sebastien Jean-Jacques.
In college, Rudolph was a wide receiver known for his speed and agility. He had a successful career at Florida State, earning All-ACC honors and setting several school records.
After his junior year, Rudolph decided to forgo his senior season and enter the 2017 NFL Draft. However, he went undrafted but signed as a free agent with the New York Giants. Rudolph played in seven games for the Giants during the 2017 season, primarily on special teams, but he did record eight receptions for 101 yards.
