Shannon Sharpe may have had a Hall of Fame NFL career, but it could have easily led to his becoming a billionaire.
The former Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens tight end opened up about a major financial mistake that he continues to regret to this day.
During an episode of his popular “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Sharpe revealed to Dallas Cowboys owner Mark Cuban that he passed on an opportunity to invest in Google back in the day.
The hall-of-fame tight end who won three Super Bowls with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens explained back in the early 2000s, he had the chance to buy $300,000 worth of Google stock.
“I remember saying to my financial guys, and I’m like, ‘You know what? I had just signed with the Ravens, so I had some money, and I was like, Man, I like to buy, you know, $300,000 worth [of Google’s shares].’ Well, it opens up at $115, and he says it’s overpriced.
“I f–ked up bad. I would’ve been a billionaire with you… but I let somebody talk me out of it. That motherf—–!”

Cuban and Sharpe both started laughing as he revealed he wasn’t the only person to make that mistake.
“It’s [Google] worth over $3 trillion now,” Cuban pointed out to a crestfallen Sharpe.
“$3 trillion!,” he reiterated as Sharpe shook his head.
“I’d have been a billionaire with you!” Sharpe added.
“You f–ked up,” Cuban joked.
Sharpe agreed, saying, “I did, I f—ed up bad!”
“I had the money to do it, but I let somebody talk me out of it.”
