Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith called out Peyton Hendershot and issued a strong warning to the 25-year-old after Thursday night’s 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the fourth quarter of the season opener, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes scrambled for a pivotal first down on a 3rd-and-3 play in Ravens territory. Roquan Smith pushed Mahomes down just as the star quarterback had scrambled out of bounds, something Hendershot took exception to.
Hendershot, who was inactive for the game, shoved Smith back in retaliation for the push on Mahomes. No flags were thrown on the play:
Speaking to reporters after the game, Roquan Smith called out Hendershot (by number, not by name) and issued a stern warning to the new Kansas City tight end.
“Whoever 88 is, I don’t know who he is, but he better watch himself,” Smith said. “I have no idea who he is, but I’ll see him when I see him.”

Roquan Smith finished the night with seven tackles (four solo), one pass breakup and one tackle for a loss. The Chiefs just barely squeaked out a seven-point victory when Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely barely stepped out of bounds on a potential touchdown on the game’s final play:
The Ravens will get an extended rest before returning to Baltimore to host the Las Vegas Raiders in the home opener next Sunday.

Thursday was a golden opportunity for the Ravens to avenge last season’s crushing home defeat in the AFC Championship Game. Instead, the Ravens are back to square one in trying to solve the Mahomes-Chiefs dilemma.
