The Las Vegas Raiders have come up with a crafty nickname for first-year tight end Brock Bowers, according to superstar wide receiver Davante Adams.
Las Vegas used the No. 13 pick of the 2024 NFL Draft on Brock Bowers, a standout tight end from Georgia who helped the Bulldogs to consecutive national championships in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
Bowers was widely regarded as a top-10 prosect in this year’s class, with ESPN’s Mel Kiper placing the Georgia product seventh on his final big board. But as many expected, Bowers fell out of the top 10 since plenty of teams prioritized greater needs at more valuable positions.
Speaking to reporters about their new offensive weapon, Davante Adams revealed that Brock Bowers has been given the nickname “BM”.” Adams said the initials stand for “Business Man” because of Bowers’ focus and determination, per Jesse Merrick of KSNV News 3:
“BM, man. That’s what I call him. BM, that’s the Business Man. He don’t care about nothing else other than locking in on football. I see it in his eyes….This is BM right here. I told him yesterday that’s his nickname.”

In his final college football season, Brock Bowers hauled in 56 receptions for 714 yards and six touchdowns. Though he had a personal-best 13 TD receptions in 2021, Bowers’ most productive year came in 2022, when he caught 63 passes for 942 yards and seven touchdowns.
Some were surprised about the Bowers selection since the Raiders used a 2023 second-round pick (35th overall) on Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer. But ultimately, the Raiders couldn’t pass on the opportunity to get a generational TE prospect and pair him with a future Hall of Famer in Adams.
The Raiders are coming off an 8-9 season that saw them finish with a top-10 scoring defense for the first time since 2022. If Bowers can help this offense improve, the Silver and Black could make a surprise return to the postseason in 2024.
Brock Bowers Debuts vs. Justin Herbert’s Chargers
Bowers will make his highly-anticipated NFL debut when the Las Vegas Raiders travel to La La Land to visit Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 on Sept. 8. That game will also mark the Bolts debut of new Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh, who returns to the NFL after a nine-year stint at Michigan.
