New Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold disclosed why the Las Vegas Raiders didn’t pick him in the recent NFL Draft.
The Raiders did some proper due diligence on the former Alabama star in the buildup to the event. Arnold was thought to be a serious option for the AFC Team. However, they surprisingly opted to pass on him when they got on the board at No. 13, drafting Georgia tight end Brock Bowers instead.
The Lions ended up getting Arnold all the way at No. 24. According to him, it was all due to luck.
Terrion Arnold was a guest on ‘The Next Round’ podcast this week. During the appearance, he revealed that a Raiders coach called him after the decision and told him the team had a coin toss between him and Bowers and it landed on Bowers.
“The Raiders coach, they called me after the draft, they were actually like, ‘We had a coin toss between you and Brock Bowers and landed on him,’” he said.

The Detroit Lions Pounced After Las Vegas Raiders Passed On Terrion Arnold
The Lions traded up to get Arnold, but he claimed they wanted to go even higher to ensure they got him. Arnold said that Lions GM Brad Holmes was making calls to trade up to No. 15 or No. 16 because they thought the Jacksonville Jaguars would take him at No. 17.
The Jags traded down to go to No. 23 and still passed on him.
Of all the ridiculous draft-room stories we’ve heard, taking a player based on a coin toss has to rank near the top.
It almost leaves you wondering if he could be lying. We’ll believe his account, however, because he’s known to have a very good character. Plus, he’s put himself in a position to get called out by the team. Why take the risk if it’s not true?
