Social media had plenty of interesting takes after Seattle Seahawks superstar wide receiver DK Metcalf was seen working out with a notable NFL quarterback.
The 26-year-old DK Metcalf is entering his sixth NFL season, looking to help Seattle rebound after missing out on the playoffs in 2023. The Seahawks will open their 2024 season with a home contest against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 8.
Fitness coach John Shackleton posted a video of Metcalf working out at 6:00 a.m. with old friend and ex-Seahawks teammate Russell Wilson, who’s now a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Interestingly, Benjamin Allbright of KOA Colorado reported after the 2024 NFL Draft that the Steelers called about possible trades for Metcalf plus San Francisco 49ers superstars Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
But there aren’t any indicators that Seattle is looking to trade Metcalf, who has two years remaining on the $72 million extension he signed in the 2022 offseason. If anything else, Seattle would likely prefer to deal Tyler Lockett, who’s five years older than Metcalf.
DK Metcalf Is A Vital Part Of Seahawks’ Future
The Seahawks have every reason to keep DK Metcalf, who’s only about to enter his age-27 season. A healthy Metcalf is a top-10 receiver in football, and Seattle probably wouldn’t get anything close to equal value in return if they were to deal him.
Though Geno Smith (34 in October) and the aforementioned Lockett are on the wrong side of 30, there’s a promising young nucleus on this Seattle offense led by Metcalf, Kenneth Walker, Charles Cross and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Add it all up, and the only logic here is for Seattle to keep Metcalf around long-term.
