New Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins has revealed what Kyle Pitts asked for in exchange for the No. 8 jersey.
Cousins, who joined the Falcons in free agency this week, has worn the No. 8 throughout his career but Pitts, a tight end, has ownership of it in Atlanta.
Speaking to reporters during his introductory press conference on Wednesday night, the QB disclosed a bit of his conversation with his new teammate over the number.
Cousins revealed he told Pitts he was fine with him keeping the number, although he was willing to pay for it.
“He said, ‘I just want targets every game,'” Cousins said. “He was joking. He kind of winked.”
Still, he feels like it was a good answer.

Pitts is in need of extra targets, to be fair. The Falcons made him the highest-ever selection for a tight end when they took him at No. 4 in 2021 and he was expected to play a significant role in their offense.
He registered 1,026 receiving yards in his rookie season as justification, though he only scored one touchdown. He followed that season up with 359 yards in 10 games and logged another 667 in 2023. The TE has been on the end of 259 targets in 44 games, receiving 90 last term.
He should expect higher usage next season as the Falcons have brought in a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator, and, of course, a new QB.
